PhotographyPosted by Juno Jones 02 Jun, 2009 15:40I just came across a video showing how camera lenses are made and it amazed me. At least now I understand why they're so expensive ^^
I still haven't bought myself a camera. Will do asap though. Gotta get one before I go on holidays.
If you're interested in photography or simply annoyed by the prices of cameras/lenses, I strongly suggest that you watch it ;)
Mh.. Seems I can't put a YouTube player in my blog so I'll just have to provide you with the URL instead:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7_wL0ZZi6k&feature=player_embeddedI find more and more lacks about this blog, so I better convert into WordPress soon. Sounds like a long process though, having to access my mySQL database and so on. I Have no clue about how to do this stuff, but luckily there's a step-by-step manual for it. *Yay*
Probably gonna upload some pics and the finished movie tonight! :D
PhotographyPosted by Juno Jones 30 May, 2009 00:37I went for a walk tonight to get my bike from school (where I had left it by a mistake), and I brought the Nikon D40 with me to get some snapshots on the road. Somehow these "snapshots" ended up being 104 exposures, but barely any of them were good. It was getting too dark and most of them are really blurry.
The trip made me start thinking though. I found so much garbage on the way to my school. First I found an empty can of beer smashed into the ground:

Then a very unhappy Happy Meal box, or so it seemed at least:

And at last, a forgotten Big Mac between some rocks on top of a fence:

I can't understand how people can leave things around like that. There are garbage bins just about everywhere, what's the problem with carrying your trash for a few more metres and then throw it?

Anyway, I'm not in the mood for ranting about the environment right now. I'm just happy the sun is finally showing itself again and I'm able to take the camera outside to take pictures from real life instead of macro and such ^^
So yeah, I took some more pictures as well of course. Here are some:

Going to bed now, then...
Good night! :)
PhotographyPosted by Juno Jones 26 May, 2009 23:26So the Red Cross commercial is fianlly getting somewhere. Almost all the nescessary pictures are shot and edited, and I'm looking forward to putting it all together properly. Unfortunately I have a project about Congo that I must finish by Thursday, so I won't be able to put the commercial together before the weekend.
Here are the finished pictures for the movie:
Popular at school...
But not as popluar at home...
Good friends at home...
...but maybe the opposite at school
Eager on being a good pupil...
...but maybe not as eager on your own life
Eating candy with friends...
...but maybe it doesn't get to stay for too long (any other suggestions for how to say this one,..? I'm trying to express anorexia)

So yeah, that's it. In the end I'm going to have some information and so on, a phone number and yah... And if you didn't read my previous blog entry: I'm going to use the song "How to Save a Life" by The Fray.
Any comments or critiques about the images are very welcome. I want this project to turn out as good as possible!

Over to other things... My teachers may be going on strike tomorrow. My class is just supposed to relax and enjoy the beach tomorrow, so it's a bit sad if they do strike. But today the weather was so terrible, I really don't want to go the beach if it stays like this.
Anyway, if my teachers do strike, only one of my teachers won't. Of course that's the one teacher who's actually given us a big task (the conflict in Congo project), but that's ok I guess. It's a very interesting project, just a lot bigger than I thought it would be.
Over to happy stuff: Only 3-4 weeks left of school before holidays! I'm leaving for England on 19 June! So looking forward to a long and relaxing summer holiday.
Now I should get to bed though, really tired these days. Good night guys!
RandomPosted by Juno Jones 20 May, 2009 21:14I'm still quite busy. Seems like school won't stop giving us things to do before the summer holidays start. I guess that's all fair, it's just that I'm not used to it being like this. I'm used to holidays almost starting in May already. Now I'm back to another movie project for Norwegian class. This time I'm making a commercial together with four other girls at school. The commercial is for a phone line you can call to talk to someone if you have any problems or just need to talk.
The background song is The Fray's "How to Save a Life", and the commercial will last for approximately one minute. It will only contain still pictures. We started taking pictures today, but it's hard to put things into a picture in the right way.
I've made four phrases to go with the pictures. There will be two pictures for every phrase:
"Popular at school ... but maybe not as popular at home."
"Eager on learning ... but maybe not as eager on living." (?? hard one to translate...)
"Eating sweets with friends ... but maybe they won't get to stay for too long?"
"Good friends at home ... but maybe the opposite at school?"
I've started editing a couple of the pictures.
This is the one for "...but maybe the opposite at school?"

And this one is for the "Eating sweets with friends..."

As you see, the "negative" or "...but-" part of the phrases are illustrated by pictures in black and white, and the others, I try to make as colourful and bright as possible. The pictures are also cropped into a 2:1 fram, just because I like it that way ^^
I'm really looking forward to see the result of this project. I think it will be great! Hope my teacher thinks the same when we've showed it to her :D
Anyway, enough for now, maybe I'll talk some more later. I'm bored today anyway ^^ Bye guys!
RandomPosted by Juno Jones 15 May, 2009 20:41I've been really busy with my finals lately and haven't had time to post anything here for a while. I'm really sorry for that!
So what have I been up to?
Well, I had my English finals. That went ok, but nothing more really. I got a 5 (on a scale from 1-6 where 6 is best), so I'm quite happy about that! :)
German went a bit worse though. Got a four there. Gotta get better. I love languages too much to have a 4 xD And I'm also going to have quite a lot of German next year. I've chosen it as a "higher level" subject.
I also had a Norwegian final, where I wrote an article/essay, but my teacher is a bit slower than the others, so I haven't gotten it back yet.
After that I went sick. Fortunately it was a weekend in front of me, but I also missed the math finals on the tuesday after. I took it a couple of days ago instead, and I honestly must say that it went terribly. Nothing to do about that though. ^^
Well yeah, I was well enough the day after the math finals to go to the social studies test. We were ought to prepare a presentation about a given subject. I got "international relations". And so I talked about jeans. Yeah, you read correctly. Pants made of denim. That's what I talked about. And believe it or not, I got a 6! I'll translate and upload my presentation in the nearest future. Then you may understand what's so interesting about jeans.
And if you think that was it, I have to say no. There was one more the day after that. And yes, it was a terrible week. In a way. The last test out was geography. We were just to prepare a chapter and then be asked questions for 10 minutes. So I did so, and I surprisingly managed a 5+! Seriously, I'd never have gotten that on a written test. I want more oral stuff.
Well, that is pretty much all I've done actually. I also got the grades for the movie I made at school with four others. We got a 6, so I'm really happy now. I had never expected that. If you for some strange reason would like to see it (it's in Norwegian though): www.junojones.com/school/norsk/Del%201.avi
Now to non-school. The weather is lovely today, and we're closing up to 17 May. We're going to have a nice garden party with family and friends, as always, with lots of nice food and hopefully great weather. For you who don't know, 17 May is Norway's constitution day. Here in Norway we consider this day of great value and celebrate it with huge parades all over the country. I'll probably show you some pictures next week!
I have also installed the Win7 RC, and I'm very pleased so far!
Now I'll go back to getting all my files back to the computer. See you guys around!
AmnestyPosted by Juno Jones 01 May, 2009 16:38So I just checked out some recent news from Amnesty, andthe newest heading was "Death of Delara".
Delara Darabi was an Iranian woman that I, and so many other activists around the world, have been fighting for for many years.
Delara was said to be a really nice and caring person. She always took the blame when something bad was done, even if someone else had done it. When she was seventeen years old, she was arrested. Arrested for murderer. And she admitted to have done it at first, though later a different story came to the surface.
Her older boyfriend was the real murderer, it's said. She took the blame because she's underaged and they didn't think she could get punished by death. At least that's what the law says.
Unfortunately for Delara, they were wrong. She's been improsoned for many years now. Activists around the world have fought for her, and time after time have we managed to postpone her execution.
Today, on May 1, they executed her without a warning. Not even her lawyer was warned. Nobody expected anything to happen before June. But it did.
I don't understand. She never got a fair trial. And now they even executed her without anyone knowing? It makes me sad, but mostly outraged. I hope the Iranian government will get to feel this one and regret that they ever even arrested Delara Darabi.

Some facts:140 people have been executed in Iran so far this year. Two of them were children*
*Child = person below 18 years of age when crime took place.
Can't the world just..... make Iran stop? They're going crazy with all their executions down there.

RandomPosted by Juno Jones 20 Apr, 2009 23:59So the deadline on the movie I'm making with four others from class is on wednesday, and it's finally starting to look like something. I've made some fancy flash-thingies for it and put the clips together.
I think I'll redo the interview I had with the librarian at our school though, because I forgot to ask a few essential questions, and the whole filming of that part was terrible.
Except from that I'm better than the last time I wrote. Still a bit tired and so after having been ill and very passive, but that's totally ok. The rest of the week will be quite relaxing, because I'll barely have any lessons. Two tomrorow and on Wednesday, and three on Thursday. On Friday I'll barely go by the school to get a task, work on it, and later that day my dear boyfriend will come on a visit from Switzerland. It will be nice to see him again because it's been two very lonely months without him :)
Now I'm going to bed though. Even though tomorrow seems relaxing, I still start at 8:00, which is far too early for me. And it's already midnight. Typical.
Good night world!
